Aston Villa Part Company With Dean Smith.

This afternoon, Aston Villa announced that manager Dean Smith has left the club.

After over three years at the club, taking them from a struggling Championship side to an established Premier League side, the board were not impressed with recent results and therefore, decided that now is the right time to part company with Smith.

The Aston Villa fans have been expressing their feelings towards Smith online, wishing him well and thanking him for the memories. The two second city derby wins, the ten game win streak to make it into the Championship play offs, the play off semi final and final themselves, the Carabao Cup run, the last day survival, Liverpool 7-2 and more are all memories that Dean Smith should be extremely proud of as he moves on from his boyhood club.

As one door closes, another opens, and Aston Villa fans have been discussing amongst themselves who Dean Smith will be replaced with. Steven Gerrard, John Terry, Kasper Hjulmand, Ralph Hassenhuttl, Paulo Fonesca and others are all being mentioned – as Villa are without a game till the 20th November due to the national break, the Aston Villa board have some much needed breathing space as they consider who the correct man is to replace Dean Smith with. It will be an interesting two weeks for the Villa fans.
