Villa in Australia!

The boys have arrived in Australia ahead of our pre-season tour. We will have opposition such as; Leeds, Brisbane Roar, and Eric Ten-Hags new Manchester United side. Our first game takes place on Sunday 17th July, against Leeds. Unfortunately, for us Villa fans this is really early in the morning at 05:35AM. Some fans will make the trip from the bedroom to the TV, but for some it's going to be the Highlight reels for when they wake up.

Villa played their first Pre-season friendly at the Poundland Bescot stadium where they played a convincing 0-4 victory over Walsall. Leon Bailey got onto the scoresheet only 8 minutes in after he powerfully slotted home a half-volley, connecting with the ball sweetly into the top corner. The one goal turned into two, when just before the end of the half; highly-rated striker Cameron Archer done what he does best, Pressing the Walsall defender and carefully dinking the goalkeeper, placing the ball into the bottom left corner. Bertrand Traore, showed glimpses of his quality also having good attempts on goal; continuing Villa's siege towards the hosts goal.

We also saw our first glimpse of new signing Diego Carlos in action for the first time, I thought he looked composed on the ball, and dealt with mistakes in a calm manner.

Steven Gerrard rang the changes after 45 minutes.

Ashley Young, came on to fill the RB role after and impressive 45 minutes from Kaine Kesler-Hayden. Young has also signed a one-year contract extension. Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings also came on to continue their growing partnership up front. Moreover, a whole new 11 was on the pitch, apart from goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, who has joined Burton Albion on loan for the season. Good luck, Viljami!

It took under 10 minutes for Villa to get back to scoring ways, with Ollie Watkins precisely slotting the ball into the bottom corner. It was great build up for the goal, with youngster Tommi O'Reilly creating the goal very nicely.

Villa ended the scoring in the 70th minute when Douglas Luiz scored our final goal... From the corner. I must admit it was poor goalkeeping, but im sure Luiz will take that any day of the week!

I believe everyone was composed on the ball, and looked very promising ahead of the Aussie tour.

We have seen quite a lot of things happening at the club since the first game of the Pre-season... With outgoings such as Finn Azaz, who has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan, and Trezeguet, who has left the club on transfer. I wish the best of luck to Trezeguet at his new club, and we appreciate the good times we have had with you here at Aston Villa!

Also, there is more and more controversy surrounding the Chukwuemeka drama, with Steven Gerrard leaving him out of the Pre-Season tour to Australia, due to 'Contract Issues' which is completely understandable.

In my personal point of view, I believe that no player is bigger than the club, and if they are trying to force game time out of the manager, just to sign the contract, then maybe being at our club isn't the right place for you! I'm sure there will be an article on this situation soon, so I will leave it at this for now. But let us know on Twitter, your thoughts on this saga?

Villa, have also confirmed the signing of Ludwig Augustinsson, a Swedish Left-back from Sevilla, on a season long loan deal. This also has an option to buy at the end of the season. Welcome to the club, Ludwig!

Well, here we go, the Pre-season tour kicks off with an early start, playing against Leeds United, and wow what a tough game this is going to be... Leeds have made a lot of new signings, basically going through a whole squad rebuild. Tyler Adams, being one of the main names in those signings. This is a really good test for us, we get to see how our players are competing in a non-competitive game against teams at a similar level to us! I would expect Gerrard to be playing a full strength side, with maybe youth players coming on in the 60th minute mark.

This will also give us a first look at new signing Boubacar Kamara, so we can analyse him ahead of the upcoming 22/23 season. Villa signed him on a free transfer back in May, and we are yet to see him in Claret and Blue.

The boys have expectedly been working hard in their Pre-season training, and I would fully expect to see fitness levels rising ahead of this game. Because of this, we should see Villa's intense pressing and hopefully making Leeds panic. Also, this can progress the link up between Ings and Watkins.

A high scoring game is something we may see, but do not get concerned if we leak a few goals as-well.

Other games in this tour contain, Brisbane Roar, and Eric Ten-Hag's Manchester United. It is going to be a very interesting month to say the least.

Tim Ireogbunam and Aaron Ramsey have travelled with the squad after their England U19 Euro's victory. Well done, lads!

Villa fans, give us your thoughts on Pre-season, and what do you expect this summer?
